NHL Fantasy Week 2 : Waiver Wire Wednesday

Five low rostered players, to target on your NHL fantasy waiver wire.

1. Owen Power | D | Buffalo Sabres | 23% Rostered
4 GP | 1G | 4A | 5 PTS

Stop what you are doing and add Owen Power. The first overall pick from 2021 has been quietly building toward this moment for four seasons, and through the first four games of 2026–27 he has served notice that the breakout is real. Five points in four games, including a game-winning overtime goal and 29-plus minutes of ice time in a single outing. From a 23-year-old top-pair blueliner at 23% rostered is the single most obvious waiver wire pickup of the week. He is playing behind a resurgent Sabres team with Rasmus Dahlin on the other pairing, he is on the power play, and his trajectory is pointing in one direction. Add him immediately in all formats.

2. Paul Cotter | F | Vancouver Canucks | 33% Rostered
4 GP | 4G | 2A | 6 PTS

Cotter signed a one-year prove-it deal with Vancouver this summer and has come out firing. He is a physical, high-compete winger who thrives driving the net and generating traffic in front, and his goal-scoring pace through four games is something to take note of. For those in category leagues, he also has 13 hits. The sample size is small, but the role is real and the production has been loud. At 33% rostered he is still widely available. Pick him up now before a third straight multi-point night makes him a hot wire topic…more than he already is.

3. Cole Perfetti | F | Winnipeg Jets | 50% Rostered
3 GP | 2G | 3A | 5 PTS

Perfetti was one of the more undervalued fantasy forwards heading into the season, and he is wasting no time proving it. Five points in three games on a Jets team that remains one of the Western Conference’s most offensively capable rosters, with power-play time and a top-six role he has now firmly held onto. At 50% rostered he is on the bubble in many leagues. If he is sitting unclaimed in your format, that is a problem you should fix today. His point-per-game pace and established role make him a genuine hold even when the production eventually moderates.

4. Chris Kreider | F | Montréal Canadiens | 27% Rostered
3 GP | 1G | 3A | 4 PTS

The old dog is at it again. Kreider signed a one-year, $2.15 million deal with Montréal in September and has slotted into the Canadiens’ top six immediately. Montreal made the Eastern Conference Final last season and has legitimate Cup aspirations this year. Kreider brings what he has always brought: high-danger positioning, power-play presence, and a net-front game that does not diminish with age the way skating does. Four points in three games is a strong start. At 27% rostered in a city with one of the most offensively rich rosters in the East, he is worth a roster spot in most formats.

5. Anton Frondell | F | Chicago Blackhawks | 41% Rostered
4 GP | 1G | 3A | 4 PTS

Frondell is the name on this list that requires the most patience, but also offers some of the most compelling long-term upside. The Swedish centre is slotted between Tyler Bertuzzi and Roman Kantserov on Chicago’s second line, which is a genuinely good situation for a 21-year-old learning the NHL game. Four points in four games and a stabilised top-six role in his sophomore season makes him a priority add at 41% rostered. Chicago is rebuilding, but the pieces around Frondell are real, and his offensive instincts are the real deal. He is a hold even on the weeks when the points are not flowing this freely.
