Casey O’Brien: Fantasy Outlook For 2026/27.

Casey O’Brien: The New York Sirens Have a Superstar on Their Hands.

Let’s start with the number that matters most: 22 points in 28 games. That is not a rookie stat line. That is a statement.

Casey O’Brien arrived in New York as the third overall pick in the 2025 PWHL Draft carrying one of the most decorated college hockey résumés in recent memory — the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Award winner, a three-time national champion at the University of Wisconsin, the NCAA scoring leader with 88 points in 41 games in her final season. The expectations were enormous. She exceeded them.

In 28 games with the New York Sirens, O’Brien posted 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points, the most of any rookie in the PWHL this season and just one point behind team scoring leader Sarah Fillier. She led the entire league in assists among rookies. She was named a finalist for the PWHL Rookie of the Year award.

Sirens GM Pascal Daoust described O’Brien as a player with “elite hockey IQ, a sixth sense to create, connect plays, and make everyone around her more dangerous.” That assessment proved prophetic. Her 15 assists led the team and reflected a player who does not just produce — she elevates. She is exceptional in the faceoff circle, processes the game at a speed that makes her look like a ten-year professional, and plays the kind of 360-degree hockey that makes every linemate a more dangerous option. Those are not skills that decline with age. Those are skills that compound.

The Sirens return a young, deep core around her heading into 2026–27. Kristyna Kaltounkova — 11 goals in just 21 games — will be back and healthier. The supporting cast is intact. New York is a franchise trending upward, and O’Brien is the engine at the centre of that trend.

A full 30-game season at her current pace projects to 23 or more points — which would place her among the top five scorers in the entire PWHL.

In PWHL fantasy leagues, O’Brien is not a speculative add. She is a must-roster asset. Get her on your team now and do not let go.
