NHL Fantasy Week 5 : Waiver Wire Adds

Week 5 is upon us in NHL Fantasy. Here are 10 names who have been offensively hot in the last couple weeks. Yes, i know there’s 3 Leafs and 2 Flames on this list and it makes me gag too. But the name of the game is who gets the most points…don’t shoot the messanger. Here you go…

1. Morgan Rielly | D | Toronto Maple Leafs | 43% Rostered
Last 4 GP | 0G | 6A

Six assists in four games without a goal is the most Rielly sentence ever written, and it is exactly why he is worth adding in every league where he is still available. He is Toronto’s first-power-play quarterback and the engine behind their blue line, and a hot stretch from the forwards around him always flows directly through his assist column ( 10 assists on the season in 14 games). The zero goals will eventually become one or two, which would push this stretch from impressive to extraordinary. At 43% rostered there is no excuse to leave him on the wire.

2. Easton Cowan | F | Toronto Maple Leafs | 53% Rostered
Last 4 GP | 3G | 3A | 6 PTS

The Maple Leafs appear prominently on this list for good reason… they are on a run, and when Toronto runs hot, the fantasy production is distributed generously. Cowan has three goals and six points in his last four games, which is a genuine breakout pace for a young forward still establishing himself in the NHL. He is 53% rostered, meaning he is claimed in more leagues than not, but if he is sitting in yours he is a must-add. This is exactly the kind of early-season emergence that rewards the managers paying attention.

3. Jack Roslovic | F | Toronto Maple Leafs | 51% Rostered
Last 4 GP | 2G | 5A | 7 PTS

Seven points in four games makes Roslovic the most productive player on this list on a per-game basis, and at 51% rostered he is still widely available. He has always been a skilled playmaker who produces in clusters, and the Toronto deployment appears to be giving him exactly the kind of offensive zone time he needs to do it consistently. Two goals and five assists is a balanced, sustainable stat line, not a lucky shooting stretch.

4. Joel Farabee | F | Calgary Flames | 31% Rostered
Last 3 GP | 3G | 3A | 6 PTS

Six points in three games, including three goals, is about as clean a hot-streak signal as you will find on any waiver wire report. Farabee has always had the offensive tools to produce at this rate, and something in Calgary’s deployment appears to be clicking for him right now. At 31% rostered he is one of the more overlooked names on this list. Grab him before the three-game tear becomes a five-game tear and his ownership percentage doubles overnight.

5. Arseny Gritsyuk | F | New Jersey Devils | 26% Rostered
Last 8 GP | 6G | 3A | 9 PTS

This is the most urgent add on the entire list. Full stop. Gritsyuk started the season on New Jersey’s third line and has since been promoted to the first line alongside Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt, a seat that has immediately produced results. He has a five-game goal streak running, leads the Devils with six goals on the season, and 26% of fantasy managers still have not claimed him. Whatever you give up to add Gritsyuk this week is worth it. He is playing with two of the best offensive players in the league and producing at a point-per-game pace.

6. Jack Quinn | F | Buffalo Sabres | 55% Rostered
Last 6 GP | 6G | 5A | 9 PTS

Nine points in six games, with six goals. Quinn has always had the shooting ability to go on these runs and the Sabres’ offensive environment continues to be one of the league’s most forward-friendly. He is 55% rostered which means he is claimed in a majority of leagues, but in the formats where he is available he is a clear add. The goal-scoring pace will pull back eventually, but his role and his shot volume suggest the production floor remains well above replacement level even when the hot streak cools.

7. Matvei Michkov | F | Philadelphia Flyers | 49% Rostered
Last 5 GP | 6G | 2A | 8 PTS

Two articles ago we were writing about Michkov heating up. The heat has not stopped. Six goals in his last five games after a slow start to the season is exactly the breakout arc that was expected from the 22-year-old with the most natural goal-scoring talent on the Flyers roster. He shed 29 pounds in the offseason, came to camp in the best shape of his career, and the results are showing up on the scoresheet. At 49% rostered he is on the borderline in most leagues. If he is available in yours, this is your last easy opportunity to add him before he crosses 60%.

8. Matt Coronato | F | Calgary Flames | 15% Rostered
Last 7 GP | 1G | 8A | 9 PTS

The most underrated name on this list by a considerable margin. Eight assists in seven games, nine points total, and only 15% rostered. Coronato is a pure playmaker doing exactly what his skill set suggests he should do when given the right deployment, and Calgary’s current offensive environment is producing for both him and Farabee simultaneously. One goal paired with eight assists tells you this is a player who creates for others as much as he finishes, which makes him reliable across a variety of fantasy formats. At 15% rostered he is the steal of the week.

9. Kailer Yamamoto | F | Utah Mammoth | 4% Rostered
Last 7 GP | 3G | 4A | 7 PTS

Nobody owns Yamamoto and that is your opportunity. Seven points in seven games to start his season from a winger on Utah’s third line at four percent rostered is the definition of a low-cost, moderate-reward streaming add that wins weekly matchups. He has been on a line with Barrett Hayton and Anders Lee generating real offensive zone time, and the production has been consistent rather than clustered. He is not a long-term hold, and his role is not secure enough to make him a dynasty asset. But as a weekly streamer with seven points in his last seven games, the math is simple.

10. Alex Laferriere | F | Los Angeles Kings | 47% Rostered
Last 5 GP | 1G | 5A | 6 PTS

Laferriere closes the list as the name most likely to be already claimed, and the one most deserving of attention if he is not. Five assists in five games reflects a player who has settled into a consistent playmaking role in Los Angeles and is benefiting from the offensive talent around him. One goal paired with five assists is a balanced, repeatable production profile. At 47% rostered in a week when he is producing at better than a point per game, he should not be sitting on your wire much longer.
